The cascading LP structure combined with a Trust or Holding LP structure at the community level has been carefully designed to minimize liability to the Indigenous partners and maximize the financial return.

The cascading LP structure combined with a Trust or Holding LP structure at the community level has been carefully designed to minimize liability to the Indigenous partners and maximize the financial return. This model has been used successfully with other Indigenous commercial transactions and we feel is optimal for limiting financial liability to our partners. Our structure has been reviewed by EY LLP from a tax perspective.

Indigenous groups demand real governance oversight over Environmental, Cultural and Community aspects of commercial  developments such as Trans Mountain, not just economic benefits. Through the Chinook Pathways structure, WIPG and its partner Indigenous Communities will have equal governance rights with Pembina, including equal representation on the Management Committee and Board of Directors.

Giving Our Communities a Voice

The Chinook Pathways structure is designed to allow its  Indigenous community partners to have a voice through the WIPG and regional partnership and board structure. Each regional LP will bring the views and concerns of each region to WIPG and Chinook Pathways through the board and partnership governance structures.
